THE MASTER

Theodore Gericault's masterpiece The Raft of the Medusa depicts a gruesome scene of survivors of the naval ship Méduse in 1816. The abandoned crew lost at sea for 13 days endured starvation and even resorted to cannibalism before they were rescued. Gericault painted the infamous moment when they notice a possible rescue-boat on the horizon.
